Random Act of Kindness: Day Eleven
Our Mission: Dollar Delight
Our Location: Dollar Tree
Our Target: two young children.
Thanks to Tara for this awesome idea!! First we went to PetSmart to get some Aquarium Salt and who did we run into? The father and daughter we bought fish for. I said "please tell me your fish haven't died already"...He said "No, I forgot to buy fish food yesterday". I had overheard him say that his daughter was 5, and I said I posted on facebook yesterday that I didn't think she was older than 4. He said he had posted on facebook too "to be on the look out for two cub scouts doing good deeds, be sure to give them a high five". I laughed and said we were on our way to the Dollar Tree for our next mission. We went to the Dollar Tree and looked around to find two children, boy and girl. We then picked for the little girl a fairy wand and a set of fairy wings. For the boy, Cooper picked out a bag of Army men and Elliott picked out a matchbox car. We went to the register and paid for the items, with the cashier acting as our accomplice. We described the two children and that we'd like her to give the items to them for us. The store was very busy and she looked at us like we were crazy at first but then smiled when we told her what it was for. We waited on one aisle just to see one of the kids get their surprise. When all of a sudden we see the dad, the mom and the daughter (from the fish purchase)...he asked could he pay for our items today. I told him we weren't purchasing anything for ourselves, we were waiting to see the cashier hand our our little goodie bags. Then he tells us how much yesterday meant to him, that he wondered if we had seen how it took him over 15 minutes to debate on getting the fish. He said that early that day he had just had to spend over $1000 on his truck and they didn't have extra to spend. And when we came up an bought the fish, he just couldn't believe it. He asked more about what were doing, and we told him that one day he could pay it forward and do a random act of kindness with his family. I tell you, God orchestrated us being in that Pet shop yesterday, just as much as he orchestrated our paths crossing again today. Many times in the random acts of kindness you don't know how the other person really felt. We did today ♥ Then we watched a little boy get his goodie bag...and his parents didn't know why the cashier was giving him free toys. Then the little girl went to another line and the cashier couldn't make it over to grab them so Cooper and Elliott had to stop them as they were going out the door and give her her wand and wings....She immediately wanted to put them on :) I know this one is long...but I can't tell you all how much these past 11 days have meant to us....and how we look forward to many more Random Acts of Kindness!! It doesn't get any better than this!
